MURRAY RIVER, LAKES AND COORONG | THEMURRAYRIVER.COM 16 Langhorne Creek If you choose to cross the ferry at Wellington, you’ll be driving along the edge of Lake Alexandrina towards the Langhorne Creek Wine Region. Make sure you stop at Kimbolton Wines, with its incredible rooftop deck, refreshing rose, cheese tasting plates and brilliant hospitality. Just down the road, Bremerton has just expanded its cellar door – so there’s plenty of space to play, eat and drink – and you need to try their new small batch gin flavours with a flight out on the lawns. Other wineries to visit include Lake Breeze, Bleasdale, Angas Plains, Vineyard Road, The Winehouse, Windsong Wines and Rusticana. Goolwa If you’re following the Murray River, your trip will finish in Goolwa, the home of the Murray Mouth. This beautiful riverside town is home to the award-winning biennial South Australian Wooden Boat Festival, which returns in 2023. If you love river history, or just want to experience something new – take a trip on the PS Oscar W . Otherwise, finish your trip with a quick adventure over the bridge to Hindmarsh Island. Here you can spend time at the marina hotel, or head out to Sugars Beach to see where the river meets the sea. Pinnaroo and Lameroo These two gorgeous Mallee towns are the perfect stopping point before the Victorian border. Their town centres are being redeveloped with new playgrounds, splash parks, picnic areas and more. If you love history, stop at the Mallee Tourist and Heritage Centre to see the letterpress printing display. For those seeking adventure (and love a 4WD challenge) grab yourself a coffee from local favourite the Groundsman and head to to Ngarkat Conservation Park and drive the famed border track.
